Billy Gene Sherrard of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born on September 12, 1931, in Rusk, Texas, to Sam Calvin Sherrard and Rosa Lee Hamilton.
On January 9, 1953, Billy married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Haynie. Together, they built a beautiful life, celebrating 72 years of marriage. Billy and Mary raised four children, who, along with their families, brought him immense joy.
Billy had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing and camping in the Ozark Mountains, where he found peace and created treasured memories with family and friends. His warmth, humor, and unwavering commitment to those he loved will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; daughter, Marylin MacMaster and husband, Hurley; daughter, Karen Roberts and husband, Frank; son, Bill Sherrard and wife, Michelle; and daughter, Patricia Luttrull and husband, Eddie. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
While Billy is no longer with us, the example of his life—a man devoted to family, faith, and the simple joys of life—will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
