Bob Auzy Johnson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, just two days before his 81st birthday. He was born on November 17, 1943 in Marlin, TX and was raised in Mooreville, TX by his loving family.
Bob proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and service. After his military service, Bob worked at Lehigh Cement for over 40 years, dedicating himself to his job and his community. In addition to his career, Bob was a pillar of his church, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, living out his faith every day of his life. If he was not working or serving at church, he could be found on the ball fields, coaching and teaching his sons and their many friends.
Bob’s greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband to Carol for many years, a dedicated father to his sons Brandon and Barry, and a proud Grandpa Bob to Isabella, Ben, Bowen, Charlee, and Sam. Bob’s love for his grandchildren was evident in everything he did. He cherished the moments spent with them, whether playing games and cards, fishing, or simply watching them excel in the activities they loved. He was their biggest cheerleader, always ready with a smile, a word of encouragement, and a gentle guiding hand.
There was nothing Bob could not do. He was a man of many talents, always ready to lend a hand or offer his expertise. His resourcefulness, warmth, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Bob’s faith was central to his life. He was a devoted man of God who lived out his beliefs through action, kindness, and service to others. His unwavering faith sustained him throughout his life, and he continued to serve and inspire others until his last breath.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Ann Dawson, and his parents Buford Oren and Ophelia Harrell and his many cherished siblings.
He leaves behind his sons, Brandon and his wife Vanessa of Kansas City, MO, and Barry and his wife Christie of Austin, TX; his grandchildren Isabella, Ben, Bowen, Charlee, and Sam; as well as a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, from 6-8 pm at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Private interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take your family to dinner in honor of Grandpa Bob and that you cherish every minute spent with each other.
Bob's legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide his family and friends as they remember his strength, kindness, and enduring love.
The lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:23
