Carl Stephen Clemons

A Celebration of Carl’s life will be held at Waco Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:00 am with Graveside service to follow. A visitation with the family will be 6-8pm Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the funeral home.

Carl was born November 8, 1954, in Waco, Texas to parents, Ernest and Velma Clemons. He attended Waco schools, graduating from Waco High School. Carl worked as a police officer for Waco Police Department for several years. He was also an auto mechanic and retired from Woodway Automotive in 2022. Carl married Venetia Grogan in 2021.

The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Carl. He loved fixing things from cars, to home remodeling projects. He loved to sing and play guitar. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do. He was a member of the Waco Gunfighters years ago that played out old western skits at Texas Safari. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He loved his two fur babies, King, and Ginger. They were his partners in crime. 

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Velma Clemons, and brothers, Roy “Kookie” Clemons and Charlie Clemons. 

He is survived by his wife, Venetia; daughter, Shannon West and husband Steve West, Sr.; grandson, Steven West, Jr. and wife Victoria; granddaughter, Destany West Perez and husband Phillip Perez. Two great grandchildren; Joshua West and Sienna Perez.
