Cheryl Elaine Retzlaff

Cheryl Elaine Retzlaff, age 77, of Wylie, was born on January 16, 1947, in Waco, Texas, and passed away on August 16, 2024. She fought a very courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She graduated from Chilton High School and later, Central City Commercial College. Cheryl met the love of her life, Ruben Maurice Retzlaff, and they were married on March 3, 1967. Cheryl and Maurice were best friends and deeply in love for 42 years. She was heartbroken when Maurice passed away in 2009 from cancer. 

Cheryl dedicated herself to raising and caring for her family, Maurice, and their two children, Shelley and Shane. She adored her four grandchildren and devoted most of her time to each of them. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and extended family. Cheryl is survived by her daughter Shelley Spradlin of Wylie, Texas, and son Shane Retzlaff of Richmond, Texas, and their spouses, Keith Spradlin and Ramona Retzlaff. Her grandchildren, who referred to her as Mimi, are Emma, Abbey, Holley, and Aiden. Cheryl is also survived by her sister, Mary Joyce Dudley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Bucker, her brothers Johnny Bucker and Benford Buckner, and her sister, Darlene Conner. 

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Waco Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am with interment to take place at Waco Memorial Park.
