Darrell Glenn Walker

Speegleville

Darrell Glenn Walker of Speegleville passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at Ascension Providence Hospital. 

Darrell was born in Clifton, Texas to Charlie "Dickie" Walker and Martha Raye (Clemons) Walker, on September 11, 1957. He lived in Crawford, Texas until he was 5 years old, then his family moved to Speegleville where he continued to reside and call home. In 1977 he graduated from Midway High School. It was there, he met, and eventually, married Nancy (Adamik) Walker. They have one son, Glenn Allen Walker. 

Darrell joined the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department when he was 16 years old and served as Assistant Chief during his time with them. 

Darrell was raised with a good work ethic, always working hard. His work took him to many parts of the United States when he worked for Matrix Services, building refinery tanks and doing refinery shutdowns. After several years on the road, he came home and worked for Knife River Construction, Big Creek Construction, Liska Construction in Karnes City, Texas, building bridges. His last job was with the City of Robinson, where his health forced him to give up working. Over the years, he loved every job and made a lot of lifelong friends. 

Darrell was an avid outdoorsman. He loved scuba diving and hunting. He liked to fish, especially with his granddaughters. 

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Carl and Laverne Adamik; grandparents, Carl and Dorothy Walker and Raymond and Elizabeth Clemons; and his grandson, Mason Allen Walker. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Glenn Walker; granddaughters, Bailee and Maycee Walker; sister, Diana (Walker) Nolan and husband, Robert; brother, Danny Walker and wife, Andrea; brother-in-law, Joe Adamik and wife, Nancy; niece, Abby Walker; nephews, Robbie Nolan and wife, Tracy, Brian Nolan and wife, Courtney, and Sheldon Walker; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
