Dawn Joyce Luecke (Briggs)

Dawn Joyce Luecke (Briggs) July 27, 1948 – August 24, 2024. Dawn (76) of Waco, Texas passed away in Coral Rehab nursing home Saturday. Born in Watkins Glen, NY to Clayton and Mary Briggs and was the second youngest of her 8 other siblings.

In her early years she lived in Watkins Glen, NY where she was a waitress, worked the family farm and even worked the races with her brother. She moved to Texas in the 70s where she established herself raising three kids, Michael, Rebecka and Lonnie. Dawn worked at Wal-Mart for 29 years before she retired. She was a member of First Assembly of God for about 20 years, and then Abundant New Life for 25 years where she was a Sunday School teacher, made quilts and was part of the ladies’ ministry. She was a devout Christian and loved her church family. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports, listening to Christian radio and playing games on the computer. She enjoyed going to concerts, some traveling, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grand dogs. She enjoyed bowling and when she stopped, she enjoyed watching her grandkids bowl every Saturday. Dawn was a loving, caring, hilarious and sassy woman.

Dawn is survived by her oldest son, Michael Martin (Temple, TX), daughter, Rebecka Andrews (Waco, TX) and grandchildren, Christina Martin (Limon, CO), Tharon Martin (Axtell, TX), and Breana Andrews (Waco, TX). Her great- grandchildren, Emma Powel (New Mexico) and Jianni Jourdain (Temple, TX), great- grand dogs, Colt, Taz, Bear, and Ranger.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Mary Briggs, all of her 8 siblings, Alta Birch, Daniel Briggs, Tracy Briggs, Clayton J. Briggs Jr., June Mezick, Vera Wayent, Richard (Dick) Briggs, Ronald Briggs, son, Lonnie Martin, grandson, Patrick Pickett Martin, husband, Warren Luecke and special friend, Stephen Difabio.
