Doris Rowena Wells, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on March 16th, 2024, in Hewitt, Texas. Born on July 15th, 1943, in Dinuba, California to Emmett Mack Stout and Freda Stout, Doris lived a life filled with love, dedication, and selflessness.
Doris's early years were marked by her academic pursuits as she attended schools in California. She eventually graduated from Franklin High School in Stockton before furthering her education at Humphreys Business College.
In 1957 Doris met Larry Dale Wells after rescuing him from a swimming pool. She knew soon after that moment he was the man she was going to marry. On June 20,1964 they were united in marriage at the Community Church of God in Stockton, California.
Doris embarked on a new chapter of her life in October of 2021 as she moved from California to Robinson, Texas alongside her husband Larry, following their daughter Quinta. This move symbolized a new beginning for her.
Doris was known for her unwavering devotion to her family. She dedicated her life to taking care of her husband, children, and their home. Her kindness and selflessness touched the lives of everyone around her. Doris always placed the needs of others above her own; she never wanted to disappoint anyone.
Apart from her caregiving role, Doris enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She had a talent for crocheting and created beautiful Afghan blankets. Her baking skills were unrivaled—especially when it came to brownies and candy—which became a cherished tradition during the holidays. Doris also found pleasure in attending the HOT Fair and Rodeo along with Baylor Bear Football games after moving to Central Texas.
In her leisure time, Doris indulged in solving word search puzzles and cherished her collection of Precious Moments figurines and bells. Her pride in her Indian heritage was evident through her assortment of Indian dolls amassed over the years. She and Larry also had a love for classic cars and were members of the American Steel Car Club in Lodi, California.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Larry Dale Wells; sons, Kenneth Wells and wife, Sunny, and Rodney Wells; daughter, Quinta Robinson and husband, Rodger Robinson; grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Heather, and Jordan Wells; as well as Peanut, the beloved Cocker Spaniel who held a special place in Doris's heart.
