Dorothy Land, known as Ms. Dori to her friends and loved ones, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, two weeks after turning 90 years young.
Dorothy Irene Land was born May 17, 1933 in San Francisco, California to the late Wesley Everett and Evalyn Marie (Strong) Bliss. Ms. Dori loved the Lord and was proud to talk about being saved at the age of 11. She enjoyed sharing her stories of faith with her many friends and acquaintances. Dori was an active member of Parkview Christian Church, making sure to attend every Sunday and Wednesday, until her health began to fail. She had a love for music and was a lifetime piano player. At her recent 90th Birthday Party she was presented with a white grand piano birthday cake that her Alamo volunteer Sadie made for her. She was ecstatic that so many people wanted to celebrate her 90th birthday with her and she played the piano for everyone one last time. She was a joy to the people who knew her and had a large special extended family which included the residents and staff at Waco Healthcare & Rehab and her Alamo Hospice Team.
Ms. Dori was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Daniel Philip Romer; and grandson in law, Scott Martin.
She leaves behind her grandchildren, Cathrine Martinez and husband, Roy, Amanda Romer and husband, Gene Ortega, Brenda Romer Martin, and Paul David Romer; great grandchildren, Alicia Winters, Elijah Lopez, Isaac Sierra, Angelo Sierra and Evalynn; as well as her extended church family.
