Gloria Jean McDonald

Gloria Jean McDonald passed away on Wednesday, December 13,2023 in Hewitt, Texas at the age of 76.  She was born on October 16,1947 in Plano, Texas to John L & Frankie O Hopkins.  Gloria graduated from Richfield High School in 1966.

Gloria was a sales representative for Avon and spent many years working at Luby’s in Waco.  Gloria had a talent for crocheting and enjoyed making crocheted Christmas gifts for her family. She loved Christmas and really enjoyed watching Hallmark Christmas movies.  Gloria had a kind heart and a strong faith in our Lord and Savior.  She ended every phone conversation with “God Bless You.” Gloria was a member at Crestview Church of Christ and treasured the members who have continued to check in on her over the years.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, John & Oleta Hopkins, her brother Gary Hopkins, and brother-in-law John “Ken” Shockey.  She is survived by her sister Sandra “Sandy” Shockey, sister-in-law Molly Hopkins, nephew Glenn “Bubba” Shockey and wife Michelle, nieces Cherie Shockey, Heather McNair and husband Karl “Rock”, Holli Short and husband Cody, Katie Morgan and husband Kory, Ashley Steakley and husband Andrew, great nieces and nephews Garrett, Brandt, Karter, Hollyn, Mabry, Hadley, Barrett, Kash and Kolton. 

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Senior Care of Hewitt that loved Gloria and took care of her for many years.

Graveside Services will be December 21, 2023 at 2:00pm at Waco Memorial Park.
