Helga Martin

Helga Elisabeth (Michel) Martin of Robinson, TX, passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours of June 20, 2022. She was 87 years old.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Waco Memorial Park with Bro. Ben Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Waco memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Helga was born August 20, 1934 in Kassel, Germany to Hermann and Elisabeth (Kleimann) Michel. Helga grew up in Nazi Germany during WWII. When she was 19, she met and married an American airman named Jamie Ellis Martin. During their life together, they had 3 children and moved many times.

After Jamie passed away, she met and loved Louie Glanz from the moment she backed into his new car at a German picnic, and they were together until her passing.

Helga was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she loved her family deeply. She loved to bake, garden, and sew. She made sure no one was hungry, and spent quality time with her special ladies and dear friends of the German Club.

Helga was preceded in death by her father, Hermann Michel; mother, Elisabeth Michel; her husband of almost 50 years Jamie Martin; her youngest son Robert Wayne Martin; and her first great grandson, Matthew Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Michael Ray Martin and wife Debra; daughter Ruth Elisabeth (Martin) Miller and husband Warren; grandsons Christopher Martin and wife Ember, Jonathan Martin, Jeremy Chavers and Jeffrey Chavers; granddaughter Christie Thompson; great granddaughter Dakota (Thompson) Hildreth and husband Collin; and great grandson Jacob Thompson; and two sisters, Ursula Clayborne and Anni Nolte.
