Herbert "Hub" Lindsey, age 83, of Robinson, Texas, passed from life on December 6, 2023, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born on August 27, 1940, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Mary Sue Hicks. Herbert proudly served our country in the Navy from 1956 to 1960.
To know Herbert was to love him. He was warm, kind, and always quick with a smile, a hug, and an "I love you." He had a gift for storytelling and could captivate anyone with his stories. Although Herbert never had a father himself, he was an amazing father to both his sons, teaching them and leading by example. Herbert worked hard all his life and greatly enjoyed retirement, relaxing in his chair and watching his shows with his and Linndale’s much-loved and pampered chihuahua Peppi often in his lap.
Herbert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linndale Foster Lindsey. Herbert and Linndale met at an old drive-in diner called Nick’s in the Cedar Grove area of Shreveport, LA. They were married on November 23, 1963. They were blessed to be able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary shortly after Herbert returned home from the hospital. Multiple times in his last days, Herbert would look over at Linndale and say, “I love you, baby.”
Herbert will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but we are so grateful for the hope we have in Jesus, knowing that Herbert is now with our Lord and Savior, healed and whole. We take comfort in knowing we will be reunited with him one day in heaven.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Linndale Foster Lindsey; his sons, Tracy Paul Lindsey, and Gregory Scott Lindsey; his grandchildren, Justin Lindsey, Christopher Lindsey, and Maisy Lindsey; and his daughters-in-law, Sharon Lindsey and Pamela Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Sue Hicks, and his daughter, Lisa Ann Lindsey.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Herbert's life will be held at 1:00 pm on December 27th at Waco Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery.
Herbert lives on in our hearts and memories, and he will forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
