James Edward Schlemmer, 80, of Waco, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with visitation beginning at 2:00pm.
Jim was born November 23, 1941, in Lott, Texas, to Olga and Edward Schlemmer. He attended and graduated from Lott High School. Prior to joining the Air Force, Jim worked on his parents’ farm and at the local gin.
After serving in Turkey for 4 years, Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force and went to work at Southwestern Bell as an installer and repairman in the Cameron/Rockdale district. He retired after 30 years of service.
He was never one to stay idle, so he went to work at the Waco soccer fields doing whatever was needed. He also worked with family buying and selling antiques. Jim never found a phone he couldn’t repair.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Edward Schlemmer.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Schlemmer; brother, Larry Schlemmer and wife, Debbie; sister, Joyce Wells and husband, Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
