Janet Elaine Hill Moore of Elm Mott, TX passed away on Oct. 3, 2023 in a Lubbock hospital following an extended illness.
Jan was born September 7,1954 in Pasadena, TX to Ray “Bubba” Hill and Nelda Jean Gunn Hill. She attended school in Galena Park, New Braunfels, and graduated from Rogers High School in 1973.
Jan worked many years for Safeway Grocery Stores at both East Hwy 53 and South 31st Street in Temple. She later worked for the Texas Dept of Corrections at Monahans and Marlin, TX. She loved her dachshund dogs and reading western novels. Knitting and crocheting were a favorite pastime that she learned from her Maw Maw Hill.
Jan married Jerry Holt and together they had one son, Justin Wayne Holt, who was the light of her life. She later married Curt Moore in Waco, TX. Curt preceded her in death in August 2007. Also preceding her in death were her mother, Nelda Gunn Clark, grandparents Lester and Ivy Gunn, and LA and Beryl Hill.
She is survived by son, Justin and wife, Alya of Lubbock; father, Ray Hill of Rogers; sister, Terri Kay Watson of Rogers; brother, Gary Ray Hill of East TX; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Bill Burnside.
There will be a family graveside service at Waco Memorial at 10:00am Saturday, October 21st. The family will gather afterwards at 668 Honey Bee Lane, Rogers TX (Terri’s home) where friends may join to share memories and extend condolences, from 12:30p-2p.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Waco or to your local animal shelter.
