Jimmy Lee Langston, age 85, passed away peacefully after a 4 year battle with dementia. He was the only son of A.L. Langston and Lucille Langston born in Jarrell, Texas on his grandparents’ farm. He attended Waco Jr. High and then moved to Jarrell and graduated from Jarrell High School.
He married the love of his life, Pete Fipps in Amarillo Tx in 1958 and then moved to Waco. In 1965, Jimmy and Pete moved to South Bosque and then moved to Bruceville in 1980.
Jimmy worked for Axel Nobel {formerly Slurry Seal and Scan Road) for 35 years when he retired in 1999.
Jimmy loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. He loved to work with his hands and had a giant garden until he was unable to work it. He loved tending to all his plants as well. He loved his dogs and he always had a one by his side.
Jimmy and Pete attended church most of their married life and lastly attended First Cedar Valley Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He had many fond memories there and he also sang with his oldest daughter and family and dear friend Gene Horton as The Gospel Messengers for several years. Jimmy loved the Lord and did not mind telling you about his personal experience with Jesus. He wrote several songs expressing that love. Any time you came to his home, he would be playing his guitar or watching gospel music videos.
Jimmy loved the old western movies and while being Pete’s caretaker, he was able to catch up on all those John Wayne Movies.
