Jonathan Earl Trayler, known by many as “Jake”, passed from this life at his home in Waco, TX on June 16, 2023. His death followed a five year, courageous, battle with cancer. He was 64 years old.
Jonathan was born November 4th, 1958, in Belton, Texas to David and Lessie B. Trayler. He was the first of a large family of eight children (six boys and two girls).
Jonathan will be remembered by his family and friends as a free spirit who always interjected humor into life’s most serious moments and embraced informality with a passion. He dedicated his work career to a variety of industries and trades. These include farming, ranching, manufacturing, construction, trucking, and crane operations, to name a few; albeit he was most comfortable in large open spaces of land, working animals on the ranch. He loved to spend his free time hunting and fishing.
He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. During his fight with cancer, he lit up the room with playful banter and lifted the spirits of many of his caregivers.
He enjoyed 20 years of marriage (June 5th, 2003) to his spouse, Evangeline, who devoted herself to him and remained at his side to the very end.
He is survived by Spouse, Evangeline Trayler of Waco; Daughter, Rachel Trayler of West; Son, James Egdamin of Davao City, Philippines; Parents, David and Lessie B Trayler of Golinda, TX; Siblings, Lydia Golden (Larry) of Meridian, TX; Paul Trayler (Denise) of Lorena, TX; James Trayler (Lois) of Waco, TX; Mary Trayler of Golinda, TX; Mark Trayler (Trinity) of Fort Worth, TX; Tim Trayler (Trilby) of Levi, TX; Samuel Trayler (Deva) of Boyd, TX, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Special recognition is given to his lifelong friend and mentor Bill Brown of Ottumwa, Iowa.
