Josephine Newman

Josephine Scharlz Newman died on June 10, 2020, in McLennan County, Texas.

Josephine was born to John Scharlz and Willie Mae Scharlz on October 14, 1919 in McLennan County, Texas where she lived her entire life. She married Floyd B. Newman, who preceded her on June 23, 1976. Josephine was also preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Scharlz; and sister, Johnnie Fay Hooks. She is survived by her son, Darrell Newman; two nephews and their families; Bill Scharlz and Alan Hooks.

Josephine maintained a household for her husband, a disabled veteran; and their son, while managing a business of raising parakeets. She was remembered by the neighbors for the popcorn balls she made and the creed that no child goes hungry. The last few years, she has lived with her only child, Darrell Newman of Bruceville, Texas
