Karen Sue Kemp

Karen Sue Kemp, 68, passed away on October 1, 2024 at her home. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday October 4th, at Waco Memorial funeral home with Jimmy Dorrell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday October 3rd, at Waco Memorial funeral home. 

Karen was born in Waco, Texas in 1956 to Harold McCain and Peggye Sue Barrett McCain. She was married to Kenneth Kemp on July 28,1979. She worked and retired from Waco ISD after 37 years of teaching. She touched thousands of lives through her dedication to her profession. She never met a stranger and had a deep love for her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. They lovingly called her Wee. 

Karen was preceded in death by her brother Keith Lamar McCain 8.16.1972, her mother Peggye McCain 12.16.2019, and her father Harold McCain 08.24.2022. As well as her mother in law, Lois Faye Kemp 2.29.2004, her brother in law Bobby Lee Kemp 5.06.2010, and her father in law Donald Wayne Kemp 05.28.2024. 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Kenneth Kemp of Waco; daughters Kourtney Suzette Glaser and husband Jay Glaser of Fort Worth, and Krystal Roxanne Lantz and husband Josh Lantz of Colleyville; grandchildren Gracelyn Faye and Samantha Anne Glaser and Liam Ari , Finley Noah, and Bennet Isiah Lantz; nieces, cousins, and a ton of loyal friends. 

Pallbearers will be John Etter, Stevie McClain, James “Giz” Gidney, Emmett Hughes, Danny Pryor, and James Kemp. 

In Lieu of flowers, Karen has requested children’s books which will be donated to Provident Heights Elementary in remembrance of her.
