Lois Alleen Shugart was born on December 18, 1924 in Austin, Texas. She went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday, February 15, 2020 in Waco, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Stonewall Hitchcock, her mother, Pearl (Cowey) Hitchcock, 3 brothers, Scott Hitchcock, Raymond Hitchcock and S.W. Hitchcock, 2 sisters, Elnora (Sis) Wingfield and Mary Boultinghouse, and her loving husband of over 66 years, Scott Shugart.
Lois did not like to stay in the house. She loved working outdoors in the yard. She had a “green thumb” and grew beautiful plants and flowers. Although she was a wonderful cook, she never really enjoyed cooking. She also loved to shop and get bargains and use coupons, She and her husband were so thankful and proud that God called their son, James, to preach the gospel. In fact, it was when he preached his third sermon at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Austin that she accepted the Lord Jesus as her own personal savior. The very next week her husband accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior.
Survivors include their son, James Shugart and wife Angie of Waco, grandson Daniel Shugart and wife Katherine of Dripping Springs, granddaughters Sherri Dittmar and husband Keith of Buda and Dawn Holt and husband Nat of Fort Worth, 6 great grandchildren, Preston Dittmar, Sierra Dittmar, Joshua Holt, Dannielle Shugart, Harrison Holt, and Judson Holt, several nephews and one special niece, Janice Boultinghouse.
