Madeline Wall, 98, of Waco passed away on December 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her children.
Madeline Anna Dillon Wall’s journey through life began on February 2, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey where she was born to parents, Archibald and Anna (Wagner) Dillon. She attended schools in Kearny, New Jersey and after graduating high school, she began working at the Singer Sewing Machine Company in New Jersey, where in 1946 she found the love of her life, Kendrick Wall. They were married August 28, 1948 in Waco, TX. Later, she attended 4C Business College and took on the role of bookkeeper for Management Services, which supported local doctors, before devoting her talents to their family business, Kendrick Tire Company, which was located in downtown Waco. After the passing of her beloved husband in 1990, she became half-owner and Secretary/Treasurer of the company, continuing her dedicated work there until it sold in 2000.
Madeline was a longtime member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where her faith flourished throughout her life. Although her health limited her attendance in later years, her unwavering devotion remained evident as she faithfully watched Mass on television and enriched her days with prayer and Bible readings. Her commitment to service extended beyond her family, as she volunteered at Providence Village after retirement, embodying the true spirit of generosity. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Altrusa Club, Garden Club, and a longtime member of the Texas Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed getting together and traveling with the “Board”, a group of dear friends, Jean Vestal, Ethel Biddle, Charlotte Carpenter, Alyce Lively, Sue Garrett and Jean Lessman, whose friendship she cherished for many years.
Throughout her life, Madeline was known for her wisdom and understanding nature. She had an innate ability to offer sound advice without judgment. Her warm-heartedness shone brightly during family gatherings, especially during the holidays when she delighted loved ones with her homemade Thanksgiving dressing and Taco Soup on Christmas Eve.
Madeline was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a caring friend, whose spirit was enriched by her great sense of humor. At the age of 98, her wit remained sharp, bringing joy and a chuckle to those around her.
Madeline took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted children: Patricia Anne Breen of Waco, Leslye Kenyon Jones and husband, Jeff (her favorite son-in-law!), of Crawford, Cindy Louise Wall and her partner Anne Sprain of Iola, and Marcus Kendrick Wall, Jr., and wife Wendy of Lorena. A legacy of love continues through her grandchildren: Stacey Jones and husband Cliff Green, Bailey Dobelbower and husband John, Nicholas Jones and wife Nicole, and Michael Kendrick Wall; as well as her great-grandchildren—Clifford, Judy, Hadley, Knox, Miles, Callie, Wyatt, Rhett, and Blake; and nieces and nephews to include Anne Michael, Trish DeDolce and Linda Lamp and Bob Dillon.
In her passing, Madeline rejoins her departed loved ones, including her parents, Archibald Dillon and Anna Wagner Dillon; her husband, Marcus Kendrick "Ken" Wall; her son, James Raymond "Jim" Wall; her siblings, Eddie Dillon, Archie Dillon, Pat Boryszewski; grandsons Robert Kendrick Breen and Marcus Kendrick Wall, III; and nephew Archie Dillon.
