Melissa was born December 21, 1964 in Houston, TX at Herman Memorial Hospital to Patricia Dyan Sutton and Wayne Hensley. She was the fourth of ten siblings and became the "mother" figure to them after her mother passed in 1990. Melissa grew up in California, Tennessee and Houston before moving to Waco with her family in 1980. She would still go to Houston often as she still had lots of family and friends there. Melissa was a single mother to her 3 children and "momma" to all her kids friends. They always knew no matter where Melissa and her kids were that they were welcome for a place to stay and a bite to eat.
Melissa made the best turkey and dressing during the holidays and the best of everything else for all the days between. She was a lover of animals, but really had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She loved music, and in everything she did whether is was cooking, cleaning, or getting ready for work, there was music playing. She wouldnt leave the house without make up and kept her hair dyed at all times to keep those gray hairs from showing. She loved all holidays and tried her best to make them as special as she could. She loved waking her kids up to see thier stockings christmas morning or their easter baskets on easter morning, She loved to have New Years Eve parties, and just enjoyed people!
Melissa faced a lot of struggles and pain in her lifetime, but she never lost her sense of humor, she could make anyone laugh and could tell a story better than anyone we have ever known. She was loved and cherished by her children and she was so proud of them, and would tell stories of them to anyone who would listen. She always said her kids were her best friends. She was "nanny" to her grandbabies, and they all absolutley adored her. Her face would light up with pride anytime she spoke about any of them. She was the best and has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.
