Nancy Elizabeth Pickett, age 74, joined our Lord and Savior on Sunday September 15th, 2024, with her family at her side.
Born Nancy Elizabeth Stuart on May 13th, 1950, in Decatur Illinois to Edyth and Herman Stuart, Nancy was the second of 4 children. She spent her childhood between central Illinois, west Texas, and northwestern Mexico.
Nancy married Ronald Pickett on December 10, 1971, and they moved to Waco Texas with their children in 1984 where she remained until she relocated to College Station Texas post-retirement. In addition to her career, Nancy spent her free time volunteering for several historical organizations, attending George Strait (and other country music artists) concerts, traveling to rodeos, riding horses, and being an active member of her church First Assembly in Waco. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Pickett; her father, Herman Stuart; her mother, Edythe Stuart; brother, Jon Stuart; sister, Debra Detmers; son in law, Richard Allgower; sister in law, Avonda Roberts; brother in law, Terry Pickett; niece, Christina Helton; great-nephew Eric Paul; great-nieces Baylee and Emma Buck; nephew, Brad Stuart; niece, Kim Paglino.
Nancy leaves behind her son, David Pickett and wife, Jessica Pickett; daughter, Lexie Allgower; sister, Carol Helton; grandchildren, Tabitha Basquez and husband Robert Basquez, Kaitlin Pickett, Keith Pickett, and Mavis Allgower; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Greer, Luciana Basquez and Lilith Basquez; as well as her dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind her cat, Jules, who she adored.
Services will be led by Pastor Mike Field at Waco Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2024, with visitation to begin at 5pm and service at 6pm. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, September 21, at 10am. All are welcome to stay for food and fellowship following interment in the Waco Memorial Reception Center.
