Nicholas E. Lopez, age 91, a resident of Waco, TX, passed away Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in Waco, he began learning leather tooling for Saddle King of Texas (now Ozark Saddle Co) and later retired after 40 years from Carbajal Upholstery where he was a furniture builder. Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Autenner in 2018 and by his daughter, Mary Helen Lopez in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ninfa Mendoza, and 3 brothers, Conrad Lopez, Joe Lopez and Julian Lopez.
Survivors include: step-son, Matthew Martinez of Waco, TX; a daughter, Rosemary Lopez of Biloxi, MS; and his sister, Ernestine Carbajal of Waco, TX and several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will gather for a Celebration of Nicholas’ life from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 6623 South Interstate 35, Waco, TX 76706.
