MARINE - Orville Clayton Bridges, 93, obtained eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 3, 2018.
Pastor Eric Howell will be officiating services at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.
Clayton was born August 16, 1924 in Corsicana, Texas to Samuel T. Bridges and Mary DeChume Bridges. He joined the Marine Corp in WWII at the age of 16 and served as a Scout. He survived combat throughout the Pacific, receiving the Purple Heart, Expert Rifleman and Campaign metals. He held a Master's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and was a teacher and counselor. He enjoyed family and friends, fishing and helping others.
O.C. Bridges was preceded in death by his mother, Mary DeChume Bridges; father, Samuel Thomas Bridges; brothers, Samuel, Frank and Lloyd; sisters, Lena Mae and Dorothy; and the love of his life, Alma Louise Tackett Bridges.
He is survived by sons, Sam and Irene Bridges. R.C. and Sherron Bridges; brother, Charles and wife Jean Bridges; sister Lona Hines; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Clayton loved his friends at Ridgecrest Retirement Center. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Interim Hospice, 7401 Woodway Dr., Waco, Texas 76712.
He will be tremendously missed.
