Reginald Eugene Davis, Jr

January 24, 1963 — January 21, 2025

Waco

Reginald Eugene Davis, Jr., fondly known as "Rick," was born on January 24, 1963, in San Saba, Texas, and passed away on January 21, 2025, in Waco, Texas. He lived most of his life in Waco and, despite the solitude in which he resided, he maintained a compassionate spirit for his family, friends, and community.

Rick graduated from Midway High School in May of 1981 and went on to briefly attend Southwest Texas State University before graduating from TSTI in 1983 with a degree in Parks and Recreation. His dedication to his work was evident through his varied career, which included positions at FedEx Corp, Midway ISD, Tom Padgitts Company, Tuesday Morning, and in his final days at McLennan Community College.

In the summer of 1983, Rick met the love of his life, Rita Jacinto, and they married in 1985, embarking on a nearly two-decade-long journey together. They welcomed a son, Reginald E. Davis III, on January 22, 1995. After their divorce in 2002, Rick continued to be a devoted father.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman, relishing every opportunity to fish in his youth and early adulthood. His love for animals was profound; he cared deeply for his pets, especially his grandpups. Music also played a significant role in his life, as he was an enthusiastic collector of records and CDs, enjoying concerts when possible. Additionally, he was a sports fanatic, passionately following the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls.

Rick's faith was a cornerstone of his life. Raised in the Presbyterian Church, he cherished attending Sunday School and services whenever he could. He also demonstrated athleticism during his youth, participating in football, baseball, and basketball.

He is survived by his loving parents, Reggie and Willie Pat Davis; his sister, Regina Shupak and her husband, Mark; and his nephews, Clay and Sam Shupak. His legacy continues through his son, Reginald E. Davis III.

Rick is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clayton Wiggins and K.C. (Papa Bud) Davis; his grandmother, Gladdis Wiggins; his uncle-in-law, Grant Groves; and his ex-wife, Rita Jacinto.

A graveside service to honor Rick's memory will be held at Waco Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. Rick will be remembered as a compassionate soul whose love for music, sports, and family resonated throughout his life. He touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
