Roy Vernon Walker, Jr., 73, of Hewitt passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Waco. His life will be remembered and celebrated with food and fellowship on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the Waco Memorial Funeral Home Reception Center.
Roy was born in Waco on August 15, 1950, to the late R V and Wilma (Hammond) Walker. He graduated from Waco High School where he was on The Daisy Chain Yearbook Committee.
When Roy discovered Bob Dylan and The Beatles he was hooked! Music was his life. He loved all genres of music, but classic rock was his favorite. He would sing and play guitar just about anywhere. He took his music very seriously…from going on the road to play country music with Larry Nix and Dempsy Winans to playing and dressing up like The Beatles.
Roy was a big cut-up and loved teasing his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He once convinced all the grandkids that the Robin eggs in the front yard were actually dinosaur eggs….and YES! They believed him! He loved playing with the kids because Roy was a big kid himself.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dolores Woycheshin and Carolyn LeMaster; and his granddaughter, Crystal Hoffman.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Walker; his kids, David Worley and Susan Spradlin; grandkids, Sarah, Zach, Tyler, AJ, and Haley; 6 great grandkids including Bently and Aurora who were so special to him; sister, Sharon Yezak; and many nieces and nephews.
