Ruby Faye (Dansby) Godby

Ruby Faye Godby, 96, of Valley Mills, Texas stepped into Heaven on February 12, 2025. Ruby was born July 21, 1928, in Mosheim, Texas to Cone Reeder and Pearl Golden Dansby. She married J.C. Godby on March 24, 1950, in Caldwell, Texas.

They made a great team. They saved their money and invested in rental properties early on. She worked for the telephone company in Valley Mills. She spent several years at Baylor as assistant cashier and secretary to the Dean of Men. She later worked at Hillcrest in the accounting department and secretary to the Chaplain.

Ruby’s hobbies included camping, playing cards and dominos, cooking and enjoying great food, and all the family gatherings! She LOVED her family immensely. Her most treasured thing was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bragging about them to EVERYONE! She also cherished her dog, Cha Cha.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Cone and Pearl Dansby; husband, J.C. Godby; sisters, Dorothy Renfro and JoNell Meyer; brother, C.R. Dansby; and 3 of her grandchildren, Jimmy Craig Godby, Ricky Bradshaw, and Missy Kimble.

She is survived by her sons, Randy Bradshaw and wife, Shirley, Craig Godby and wife, Brenda, and Michael Godby and wife, Shirley; her daughter, Judy Wittmer and husband, Jerry; stepdaughter, Janice Morgan; grandchildren, Micha, April, Travis, Justin, Charity, Joshua, Jessica, and Wendy; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kyren, Tanner, Shelby, Kolby, Kassidy, Cassie, Tekoa, Lacee, Lola, Jadyn, Chambree, Addyson, Karson, Khiley, Addy, Sage, Sawyer, and Stetson; and great-great grandchild, Coburn. She also leaves behind a sister, Corinne Rabbe of Robinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nell Godby of Clifton; and sister-in-law, Gladine Godby of Bryan.

Services will be at Waco Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Visitation begins at 11:30 am and continues until service time.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Hillcrest Hospital and to the nurses with Hillcrest Hospice for their loving care of Ruby.

In lieu of flowers, Ruby’s wishes were memorial donations be sent to the First Baptist Church of Valley Mills.
