With grace under her wings, Sara Frances Erwin Holze, 98, of Waco passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025. She was born on November 2, 1926 in Alto, Texas in Cherokee County to James Clay Erwin and Elmina Miller Erwin. Sara was the middle child of three, having an older brother and a younger brother.
On December 22, 1946 Sara married Curtis Holze after meeting him on a blind date while they were attending Baylor University. Together they had a life of love and devotion for 64 years.
Sara cherished spending time with her family, especially attending all of the grandkids and great grandkids’ sporting events and her Baylor Bears’ events.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis; and brothers, Jimmy and his wife, Betty and Miller and his wife, Ruth.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Cindy and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Tim Hunt and wife, Katy, Curt Ellis and wife, Allyce, and Shannon Jordan and husband, Richard; great grandchildren, Taylor, Cole, Grant, and Emma who thought Sara was the best GiGi ever.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 5 to 7pm at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. At Sara’s request there will be no funeral, only a private family gathering in the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Sara’s amazing care team from Right at Home, Diane Scott and Judy Kopelow, as well as the care team from Interim Hospice and the staff of the Atrium of Bellmead.
