Shirley Jones

Shirley Ann Jones, 75 of Waco, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 25 at Victory Tabernacle PCG, 2220 Air Base Rd. in Lacy Lakeview. Visitation will be Thursday, March 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the church.

Shirley was born December 27, 1946, in England, Arkansas to Leon and Hazel Capps. She married Warren D. Jones August 21, 1969, in Ft. Worth, TX.

Shirley was known for her love of God and her beautiful voice, which she used to glorify God. She was a faithful member of her church and was a vocalist for a gospel band for several years called Glorybound Gospel Singers.

Shirley resided with her daughter and her grandchildren Devin and Savannah Jones where she took on a parental role in their lives. Shirley was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved to cook and entertain.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Jones; parents Leon and Hazel Capps; son Donald Bailey; and brothers Robert, Billy and Dale Capps.

Shirley is survived by her five children, Christie Mendoza and significant other James Cohn of Waco, Lisa Jones of El Paso, Tammy Garza and husband Isa of Clarks, Louisiana, Gayla Anderson and husband Willie of Craig, Colorado and Sherry Harper and husband Earl of Euless; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings Mark and Jimmy Capps of Azle, Donna Tucker of Waxahachie, Carol Ritchie of Dickson, Oklahoma, and Christine Thornton of Springtown.
