Vera Halcyone “Pinky” Harrison Burt
A loving wife, mother, memaw, sister, aunt and constant friend.
1937 - 2024
Pinky was born August 8, 1937, in Panola County, Texas to Aubrey Chayce Dyer and Zorah Frances Tate. She resided in Waco, Texas for much of her life until she passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024
She was first married to Terry Donald “Don” Harrison with whom she shared 19 years of marriage. Together they had a son Troy D. Harrison. After Don’s passing in 1984 Pinky found love again with Travis Joe “TJ” Burt. They were blessed with 23 years of marriage and shared many wonderful experiences together.
During her marriage to Don, they purchased homes around Waco, fixed them up and flipped them…before flipping houses was in style! Pinky and Don helped their close friend, Jacqueline, raise her four children. Kim has always considered Pinky as a second mom and Pinky has always loved Kim as her daughter. Pinky was always there when someone needed help.
She is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Harrison, parents and husbands, brother, Bob Dyer and sister, Hazel Lynn Pack.
She remains beloved by her son, Troy Harrison and fiancé Bobbie King; grandson, James (JT) Harrison; and her sister, Wanda Nell Beals Shull of Roseville, CA. Additionally, she will be missed by numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces & nephews and several close friends that she loved as family.
Along with Pinky’s love of family, she enjoyed traveling, reading, flowers, gardening and animals. Pinky was very smart. She attended Baylor University and she and her good friend Bonnie attended many Baylor girls’ basketball games.
The family is thankful to Bonnie Garrett for her help and her long-term friendship with Pinky. The family is also grateful to Kim Horn (daughter of Jacquelyn), and Jacquelyn Johnson, for their continuous help and support, especially in these past four years.
Additionally, the family is thankful to Charlsie Whitney and Brenda Wagner, along with the kind people at the Delaney for their continued help and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Fuzzy Friends Rescue 254.754.9444
