Wayne Schoenleber

Wayne Christian Schoenleber, 86, a longtime resident of Hewitt, died Sunday, December 21, 2021 in a local nursing home. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 31, 1935, as a kid he worked for the coal truck man delivering coal for a quarter a day.  He later joined the U.S. Army in January of 1953 and served until April of 1955 earning the rank of E-5 (Sergeant).

Wayne was a natural salesman and had worked for several aircraft companies and Hooker Headers before moving to Texas.   He met his soul mate and love of his life, Ramona, the week of Thanksgiving in 1971 in Los Angeles, CA at the LDS Temple and they married on December 3rd of the same year.  They were constant companions for over 22 years until her passing in 1994.

Wayne was the 1st Bishop of the LDS in Waco of the 2nd Ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of the Later Day Saints and gave pass along cards to everyone he met.  He loved people and could be found playing his guitar for people at nursing homes.  Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona and his parents, William Christian and Fidelis Emma Schroenleber; and his sister, Faith.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Ben Gustafson; 4 Grandchildren, Elicia (John) Dusbabek; Liahona (Tony) Leavitt; Steven (Jillian) Linde and Christina (Korey) Scruggs and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 PM to 6 PM, Monday, December 27, 2021 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with Funeral Services at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with Alan Mayfield officiating.  Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Robinson, TX.

Pallbearers will be Ben Gustafson, Steven Linde, Tony Leavitt, Connor Lydon, Brendon Lydon, Ashton Lydon with honorary pallbearers, John Dusbabok, Daryl Lydon, Johnny Leavitt and Korey Scruggs.
