Zane Ann Marciello was born in Saginaw, Michigan, June 6, 1954. Her toddler pet was a black cocker spaniel named Muffin. When she was approximately five years old, she moved with her mother Sally Schommer, step-father, Frank Joseph Schommer and maternal grandmother to an airbase in Puerto Rico where her step-father was stationed. While in Puerto Rico, she experienced President Kennedy's Russia to Cuba missile blockade when the airbase was on full alert. After Puerto Rico, she moved with her family to other airbases. Her step-father retired from the Air Force and she and her family moved to Waco, Texas when she was approximately ten years.
Zane and her grandmother rescued a cat which she named Harvey. Her grandmother passed within a few years later. She attended Waco public schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School in the early 1970's. She attended Mclennan Community College in Waco and graduated with a nursing license. She moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she was employed in various nursing capacities including a position as head nurse supervising twenty-two nurses. In 1980, she met Lou whom she married September 1982. Zane and Lou started a frozen yogart business which they named Zane's Yogurt Café. They operated the business for five years while employing approximately fourteen employees. She ran the day to day operations. Her mother passed and several years after the business was sold her step-father passed. During Zane's time in New Orleans, she began work rescuing cats where she kept six.
In 1991, her husband acquired a new job in Houston. Several years later, she moved to St. Michaels, Maryland due to job requirements of her husband. After several years, they moved back to Houston and spent time in Houston as well as at her childhood house in Waco. She rescued several more cats and dogs during that time.
Zane has no siblings, never had children and is survived by her husband, Lou, her brother-in-law, Frank Marciello and his wife Marion. She is also survived by three nephews, Frank Marciello III, his wife and children; Michael Marciello, his wife and children and Paul Marciello, his wife and children. She also has two godchildren, Madison and Madlyn Webb as well as many friends in both Houston and Waco.
She is loved and will be missed by many. God bless you Zane Ann. Rest in peace.
